TICKET GIVEAWAY: The Art of Small Business
Posted on September 5, 2013 by Hafsa Pathan
Now that summer’s over and you’ve put your bathing suit away for the year, it’s time for the fall event rush. As you fill your calendar in with events like AccelerateTO , mesh marketing , and Social Media Week, we have one conference aimed specifically at small business owners and entrepreneurs to add to the mix.
The Art Of hosts events on marketing, sales, and leadership, and past Toronto events have featured speakers including Twitter founder Biz Stone and marketing author Seth Godin.
The company’s next event is The Art of Small Business, taking place on October 21st at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It’s not a typical 50-person meetup: the event will bring together over 1000 small business owners, both new and experienced. It’s a great opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and learn plenty of new things from some of the biggest names in the small business realm.
Tickets to the event are $349, and 88 Creative has a ticket to give away to one lucky winner (details on how to win at the bottom of the post). If you don’t win but still want a ticket you can save $50 by using the promo code ‘CREATIVE’ when registering !
Speakers include:
-
Michael E. Gerber, small business guru and author of bestseller, The E-Myth Revisited
-
Chris Guillebeau, New York Times bestselling author of The $100 Startup and The Art of Non-Conformity
-
JJ Ramberg, host of MSNBC’s Your Business and author of It’s Your Business
-
John Jantsch, small business expert and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of Duct Tape Marketing, The Referral Engine and The Commitment Engine
-
Jonathan Fields, award-winning author, entrepreneur and founder of The Good Life Project
-
Stephen Shapiro, innovation consultant, speak and author of Personality Poker and Best Practices Are Stupid
-
Mitch Joel, president of Twist Image and bestselling author of Six Pixels of Separation and Ctrl Alt Delete

Good luck!
Contest is now closed. Thanks for entering!
“The Art of” events are AMAZING! In order to continue to grow my insights and apply those lessons directly to my consulting, I could really REALLY use a ticket to attend. I would see nothing more valuable to do on September 20th than to tap into the brains of these brilliant speakers, and walk away ready to make a difference!
It owuld be great if 88 creative could help.
Thanks!
Judi
Awesome! Also, the event is in October (the 21st) – hope that works in case you win!
Top Ten Reasons to Pick Me!
10. I’m in love with Mitch Joel (don’t tell my husband)! Mitch and I spend time together every Sunday morning checking out six interesting links. :-)
9. I devoured $100 StartUp
8. I’m starting my business with E-Myth in mind. Systematizing from the ground up.
7. Loved Best Practices are Stupid
6. Felt really silly doing the Brick exercise, but loved it and implement that approach when stuck (Thank You Mr. Shapiro)
5. Devoutee of the Duct Tape Blog!
4. Loved Referral Marketing
3. Just discovered Uncertainty
2. I’ve discovered I’m not a web developer…the hard way…
1. I’m going through a gruelling relaunch and need a break!
We love lists! Especially when they countdown.
Have you read The Checklist Manifesto? It is brilliant – and will sell you on the idea of creating checklists….great for repetitive tasks that you complete only occasionally. I had a friend “systematize” her biz with checklists. She needed to do one of those couple times a year tasks, pulled out the checklist, breezed through the task and can’t understand why she didn’t do it earlier. Whether they are for fun, or they help you with your business, lists rock!
I don’t think I deserve to win anymore than anyone else, but I’m currently switching from working for other people to finding a way to working for myself. Attending an event like The Art of Small Business could be the spark I need to find my passion and the right small business idea for me.

What a gentleman! Good luck!
Why do I deserve the ticket?
#1 – I need all the help I can get
#2 – a free ticket would help
#3 – the conference would be even more help
#4 – I’ll help you by making you lunch
#5 – You’ve already helped me, which is why there is so much love between us
#6 – pretty please with a helping of vegan whip on top?
Lunch?!
I deserve the free ticket because I moved last week from Vancouver to Toronto. I have no friends so this would be a great opportunity to meet some AWESOME and like minded people!
88 Creative rocks for doing this!
Welcome to Toronto! Hope you love our city though Vancouver is pretty cool too.
For every day you wait to consider me the winner, another Canadian #SmallBusiness FAILS! Do the right thing, pick me now!
Or I can quote The Smiths:
“So please please please
let me, let me, let me
let me get what I want
this time…
… Lord knows it would be the first time”
‘Cause you know, I’m a #SmallBusiness #Virgin
Hahah! Creative.
All these entries are great and 88 Creative’s going to have a tough time choosing a winner!
But here’s my bid…
I always learn so much from a good conference, and try to implement 2-3 things I pick up in the coming months to our company. We are now in the process of a lot of change – new staff, new verticals and recent acquisitions – that I really could use all the guidance I can get right now!
Plus, I would thank 88 Creative profusely on my personal and company social media channels, and promote you to a wide audience! I can very loud and proud.
In conclusion… please :)
KL
We like loud and proud! Good luck! :)
I deserve to win a ticket because I want to learn how I can help small business owners promote their products/services through social media! I’m also a big Mitch Joel fan (see: http://sarahprince.ca/2013/09/mitch-joel/ ).
Very cool!
I wish I would have found out about this earlier! I would love the opportunity to listen to these great speakers and learn more from them.
