What’s Happening in November + Giveaway

Posted on November 6, 2013 by Hafsa Pathan

It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year again, but first we have to get through November. Luckily we have plenty of events lined up for the month to keep us busy.

First up is Mesh Marketing on November 7th, where our Managing Director Erin Bury will be moderating a panel on “your digital marketing toolkit.” There might also be a surprise game in the audience, but we can’t give anything away yet! Next is the CM1 Community Manager’s conference on November 14th, where Erin will be leading a session on creating content people actually want to read (what a concept!). We’ll also be cheering Erin on as she joins a social media panel at the Profit W100 women’s entrepreneur conference on November 26th. And we can’t forget the must-attend event of the month, The Art of Leadership , also happening on November 26th.

The Art Of hosts events on marketing, sales, and leadership and often feature leaders of the present and future like Twitter founder Biz Stone.

The Art of Leadership is taking place on November 26th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, bringing together over 3,000 of Canada’s brightest and most influential leaders for a one day conference. It’s a great networking opportunity, and a change to hear from five guest speakers (including one very famous Canadian astronaut).

Tickets to the event are $449, and we have a ticket to give away to one lucky winner (details at the end of this post). If you don’t win but still want to attend this event you can save $50 by using the promo code ‘CREATIVE26’ when registering !

Speakers include:

  • Gen. Colin Powell, author of It Worked For Me – In Life and Leadership ;he was also the 65th United States Secretary of State, serving under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005.

  • Amy Edmondson, author of Teaming: How Organizations Learn, Innovate & Compete in the Knowledge Economy

  • Stephen J. Dubar, co-author of the best-selling Freakonomics

  • Adam Grant, author of Give and Take

  • Col. Chris Hadfield, author of A n Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth (full disclosure: just the coolest person ever, so excited!)

To enter for a chance to win a ticket to The Art of Leadership, simply comment in the space provided below telling us why you deserve the ticket and follow us on Twitter ! Contest ends November 20th.

Good luck!

Why do I deserve a ticket?

I was handcuffed to the bed.. In my underwear, where I remained.. She was attractive.. She was, also, infact, a Nazi.. The water.. that I had been swiming in was.. very cold. And, when I dropped the towel, there was.. significant shrinkage.. Her parents were looking at me.. So, there I was, with a marble rye hanging from the end of a fishing pole..

In closing, these stories have not been embellished, because – they need no embellishment. They are simply, horrifyingly, the story of my life as a short, stocky, slow witted bald man. Thank you. Oh, also.. my fiance died from licking toxic envelopes that I picked out. Thanks again.

OK…. none of this happened to me, it was in fact George Costanza from Seinfeld. But don’t you see, as a Seinfeldtologist, if the only source of leadership and inspiration I have is from Seinfeld, this will be my life. Don’t you see? I’m turning into George. I’m George!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love an opportunity to hear from Col. Hadfield and Gen. Colin Powell. I think both men are strong (although very different) leaders.

I am totally stocked, though, about the opportunity to hear Stephen Dubar, because Freakonomics was just so much FREAKIN fun to read!

    Thanks for the chance!

    Hi there 88 Creative!

I first came into contact with your agency during Social Media Week Toronto, and knew from that point on your tweets were worth seeing, and your updates worth following. Thank you for being a fun + informative source for all things digital. I really like your agency’s vibe on twitter (talking about old school and embarrassing addresses, and sharing interesting social media stats).

I’m an ideal candidate to win a ticket to The Art of Leadership because I bring a lot of natural abilities to my everyday life, but I am a big believer in constantly learning and growing.

I have many roles: Social Media Marketing Assistant in the Nonprofit world, Volunteer Grief Facilitator for grieving children, Advisor Assistant at Laurentian University’s Center for Academic Excellence, and Tawingo Leadership Course co-Director at Camp Tawingo in Huntsville.

This past summer I had the amazing opportunity to teach 35 amazing young adults about how the impact of their leadership skills can benefit children we interact with in a recreational and outdoor setting. I have been attending this Camp for 13 summers, and in my 7th summer on staff I had the opportunity to work in this position with a male co-Director, a dear friend. I learned a great deal about leadership, attitude, goal-setting and collaborative work. I learned the value of these skills through teaching these amazing young adults, as well as from them directly.

As I said before, I am an ideal candidate to attend this conference because I bring a great deal of leadership, drive and charisma to the table; but I would be thrilled to learn from these amazing leaders themselves.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to attend this conference.

I’d love to attend the conference as it’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from a wide variety of accomplished leaders.

I think we all have leadership skills but would totally appreciate this opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best in the game!

I am so excited! Thank you so much for the opportunity to win and be in a room with such amazing speakers! You are wonderful to donate such a seat. I am eager to learn all I can from the great people at The Art of Leadership Conference.

All the speakers have made their mark in the world, even down to the kids. We all would benefit by being there this month. Wish you had more tickets to share…

Thank you again for giving us a chance. Cheers.
